Good... you are on the right track... I would lighten the distant trees under "Willie Nelson". The way the numbers and titles and time is laid out is very interesting... I like it. Again, lighten any elements of the photo that are of a darker value under black type. The Dodge tool is a good thing to try in this case.
Remember, there is a 2nd part to this assignment... the back with end flaps... perhaps for this Monday.
